I’ve been reading books pretty well since I could pick them up and at the age of 7 or 8 my parents signed me up for the now defunct Children’s Book Club which meant that each month a new hardback arrived in the post, it was all very exciting and I discovered lots of authors.  By my early teens I had found my first Penguin Classic,  Homers Illiad, and a fascination with the story of Troy made me pick it up and read it and I was hooked.  After a dozen or so more Penguin Classics were purchased and enjoyed I decided to get more and explore yet more authors beyond what I had heard of and so began a collection of Penguin titles which now has surpassed 2000 volumes along with over 4000 books from other publishers.
